I would not recommend taking small children, although I saw some people that did. There are very steep climbs up rocks, walking along the top of high up ridges, crawling off of rock shelves, sand in some spots, etc. If you take the entire trail, like we did, expect some pretty difficult hiking. The Devil's Garden hike is the best way to see some of the most spectacular scenery at Arches. The gift shop was nice and we enjoyed looking at the various books, shirts, toys, and stickers. There were these interactive screens that had maps that seemed like they should do something but we couldn't get them to do anything. The video game thing looked cool, but no one was there to run it, which seemed weird since it took up so much space in the museum. It was noisy hearing multiple videos playing at once. They should do those sound cone things to help direct sound from the video to be more localized to near the videos. The museum was small, but the things they did have were interesting to look at. There was a couple spots of shade and it seemed pretty windy since it was more out in the open. The dinosaurs on the walk were cool and high quality, but my son didn't want to stop for me to read any of the signs to him since it was so hot. I'd suggest looking at Groupon for deals. We didn't do the 3d movie or aquarium and it was $34 for 1 adult & 1 kid.
